William Hayes Zachery-Abdullah Obituary (1926

Springfield- William Hayes Zachery - Abdullah, 85 died on Friday June 17, at home surrounded by his family. William was born on June 2, 1926 to the union of Willie Zachery and Mamie Hutchinson. He was one of 10 children. He was predeceased by his parents Willie and Mamie Zachery, his brothers, Jimmie, Willie, Howard, Ralph and John Wesley and one sister Irene Zachery Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 56 years, Beverly, 6 sons, Albert J., Aaron, Omar, William Jr. Mark M and Bilal Zachery, 2 daughters, Karien and Karlena, 1 brother, Edward, of Alliance, OH, 2 sisters, Eva Ellison of Tuskegee, Ala. And Mattie , of Atlanta, GA, 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. William became a member of the Muslim religion in the city of Springfield over 56 yrs. Ago, of which he was a strong believer and supporter. His religion was a great part of his life. His passion was spreading words of wisdom to anyone who would listen. He was a veteran in the US Army retiring after completing a term of 4 years. He retired after 43 years of service to the Monsanto Chemical Co. in Indian Orchard, MA. William was also a licensed plumber, a Draftsman and a sheet metal worker. William attended Junior high school in Tuskegee, Ala. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. Funeral Services will be held on Tues., June 21, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Puerta Del Cielo(r) Funeral Home, 730 State St. with burial at Oakgrove Cemetery.
