Ramona Ramos

Ramona Ramos Rivera Sanchez passed at the age of 92. She was always an outstanding, strong and amazing woman as humble and full of life and love for all! So for those who didn't know her well, I will share a bit of her story. My Grandmother was a happy and beautiful soul and very humble in life. She loved everyone whether you were blood or not and was very loved by others. Grandma had Seven Children, Two of them here today, her son: Miguel A. Lopez (Gelo) my father and her daughter: Inocencia Lopez (Ino) my aunt and Godmother, she was predeceased by Five children: Ernesto Lopez (Chollo), Geraldo Lopez (Pepo), Ismael Lopez (Maelo), Carmen Lydia Rodriguez and Pascuala Baez (Chary) and also by her husband: Efigenio Rivera (Jimmy) my Grandfather. Ramona also had Twenty-One Grandchildren of which Three predeceased, had Fifty-Five Great Great Grandchildren, and Thirty-Two Great Great Great Grandchildren.

My Grandmother was born in Cidra, Puerto Rico, and was never sent to school as a young girl. She was to stay home and learn to run a household but yet she achieved many titles and things in life. She owned a Restaurant years ago in Holyoke, she was a landlord to a multi family home she and Grandpa owned, she even owned a hotdog cart but for sure her most cherished and important job was being a mother to her kids. As head of the family, she was always there for us all one way or another when ever we needed her. She loved her loud music of Vicente Fernandez and Paquita. Welly was also a Religious Catholic woman being part of Our Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church whom she was devoted to for years. She outlived all of her Five siblings in Cidra, Puerto Rico, where she was born and both her parents as well Venilda Sanchez and Loreto Ramos.

A viewing for Ramona will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at North End Chapel, 130 Carew Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, followed by her burial at Oak Grove Cemetery of Springfield Inc., located at 426 Bay Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109.
