Rafael Gonzalez Jr. Obituary (1964 - 2014) - Springfield, Massachusetts

Springfield~ Rafael Gonzalez, Jr., 49, passed away on May 25th. Rafael was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 9 to Rafael and Carmen. He was an Assistant Director at the Dept. of Youth Services in Westfield; he worked at DYS in Westfield for over 30 years, and he was a Special Police Officer in Ludlow; he was very fond of them. He also worked security at Holyoke Medical Center. He was a graduate of the VT Dept. of Corrections Academy. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Gonzalez and by his loving step-father, David Olmeda. He leaves to cherish his memory: a son, Gabriel Gonzalez; a daughter, Cassandra Gonzalez; his mother, Carmen Olmeda; a sister, Rosa Caraballo; and 2 brothers, Henot Rivera and Heriberto Gonzalez. He will be greatly missed. The Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 9 - 10 a.m. at the Spanish Christian Church, 565 Chestnut St., Springfield, followed by Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, May 30, from 5 - 8 p.m. at 565 Chestnut St., Springfield.
