Maria Ines Rivera

–

Springfield, Massachusetts

It is with an aching heart that I, George Rivera, pen down the life and times of my extraordinary mother, Maria Ines Rivera. Born on the 5th of December 1931, in the picturesque town of Comerío, Puerto Rico, Maria was the embodiment of compassion and love. Her generosity knew no bounds and her intelligent mind was an inspiration to all of us. She was a loving mother, a loyal friend, and a cherished member of the Spanish Christian Pentecostal Church. Her love for her family was rivaled only by her steadfast faith.

Maria was a beacon of hope, a wellspring of wisdom, and a pillar of strength not only for our family but also for the entire community. She was a devoted homemaker who nurtured her family with an unwavering dedication and a love that was as deep as the ocean. As a widow, she bravely shouldered the responsibility of her family, never letting us feel the absence of our beloved father, Hector Rivera. "A mother's arms are more comforting than anyone else's," Princess Diana once said, and never was this truer than with Maria. Her warmth and love were our sanctuary, a refuge in times of storm.

Maria is survived by her son’s George and Hector, Sr., and her daughter, Elizabeth. She also leaves her Two Grandsons: Hector Jr. and wife: Sheila and Zoelle, Three Great Granddaughters: Jasmine, Kiarra and Kyahnna and One Great Great Granddaughter: Nya. Maria was predeceased by her Parents: Juan Torres and Teodomira Melendez, her Husband: Hector Rivera and her eldest son: Angel Rafael Figueroa. Her absence will be deeply felt, but we take solace in the fact that she is now reunited with her loved ones in heaven.

Maria's life will be celebrated at the Spanish Christian Church - Assemblies of God, located at 565 Chestnut Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01107. The first viewing will take place on Wednesday, the 8th of May 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, the 9th of May 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by her burial ceremony, at Oak Grove Cemetery of Springfield Inc., 426 Bay Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109.

Maria's life was an embodiment of the quote by Helen Keller: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will forever be felt in our hearts. We invite everyone who knew Maria to visit her memorial page where you can share memories, upload photos, and celebrate the life of this remarkable woman.
