Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez

Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez, lovingly referred to as Maria by her family and friends, was born on July 6, 1937 in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She danced gracefully into the realms of eternity on March 6, 2026 at her residence in Springfield, Massachusetts. A woman of great spirit and strength, Maria was a beacon of joy, light, and love to all who were fortunate to cross paths with her. Her vibrant personality and infectious laughter would fill any room she stepped into. Her love for dance was only surpassed by her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, who she cherished dearly.

Maria was a true testament of faith and resilience. A devoted catholic, she lived by the verse from Psalm 28:7, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him." Even in the face of adversity, Maria's unwavering faith and trust in God remained a constant guiding force in her life. She was a living embodiment of love and kindness, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Although she never formally held employment, she devoted her life to the most noble work of all, raising her son and nurturing her family with unparalleled love and dedication.

Maria is survived by her son, Jose Ortega, who was the apple of her eye. Her parents, Placido Rodriguez and Blanca Vazquez, preceded her in death. Their love and teachings were the foundation of the woman Maria became.

A visitation will be held in Maria's honor on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Puerta Del Cielo Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109. Another showing will take place at the same venue on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by her interment at 10:30 AM, at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA.
