Luz Hernandez

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a beloved sister, aunt, and grandmother, Luz H. Hernandez. Known affectionately as "Lulde" to those closest to her, Luz brought light and laughter into the lives of everyone she knew. Born on November 29, 1975, in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, Luz made her way to Chicopee, Massachusetts, where she lived a life full of love, compassion and service to others.

Luz was a woman of many talents, but her most defining trait was her humble heart. She was a Personal Care Assistant in the Home Care sector, a role that allowed her to channel her natural loving and compassionate spirit into serving others. She had a gift for making people feel seen and valued, and her sense of humor was a balm to those she cared for. Outside of work, Luz was an avid music lover and enjoyed nothing more than a family gathering or a shopping trip. However, what mattered most to Luz were her grandkids, whom she adored with all her heart. As Maya Angelou once said, "I sustain myself with the love of family," and this was indeed true for Luz.

Luz is survived by her siblings, Wanda Pagan, Luis Pagan, Carmen Pagan, and Israel Pagan. She is preceded in death by her father, Luis Hernandez, mother, Ramona Diaz, daughter, Karina Lozada, and brother, Edgardo Pagan. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 1:00 pmEDT at Puerta Del Cielo Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts.
