Librada Santiago Obituary (1947 - 2025) - Springfield, Massachusetts

A brilliant rainbow in the sky of our lives has dimmed; Librada Santiago, affectionately known as Libby, passed on peacefully on June 9, 2025. Born in the beautiful town of Dorado, Puerto Rico, on September 6, 1947, Libby carried the warmth, vibrancy, and strength of her island heritage into her life in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she resided. Libby was a woman of extraordinary strength, a beacon of love, and a symbol of resilience. She was a dedicated service member of the Jehovah’s Witness community since 1989 & served until her final moments. Her impact on her brothers and sisters will always be remembered. Libby spent many years nourishing the minds and bodies of children as a cafeteria worker at the Walsh Elementary School in Springfield. She retired from Walsh Elementary, but her legacy of love and care endures within its walls. Libby's life was a testament to the power of love and family. She was a beloved figure in her family, her love radiating outwards like the sun. Her children, Matilda Santiago and Johnny Santiago, along with her grandchildren, Tatiana, Nathan, Jonathan, Joshua, & Jeremy, will carry her memory in their hearts. Her sister Marisol and brother Antonio will continue her legacy along with her sister in law Mildred. Her parents, brother and grandson, Juan and Juana Santiago, Porfirio Morales & Jake Santiago, preceded her in death, and we imagine their joyous reunion beyond the veil of mortality. In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
