Jose Sanchez, born on August 23, 1964, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, was a man of the earth, his hands as loving and nurturing as they were strong. His life was a testament to the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn." Just as an acorn grows into a towering tree, so too did Jose grow from a young boy in Puerto Rico to a master landscaper in Springfield, Massachusetts, shaping the world around him with a heart full of love and a spirit as vibrant as the gardens he tended.
Jose’s life was a beautifully landscaped garden, filled with the colorful blossoms of his loved ones. He was a loving husband to Madeline Pagan, a supportive brother to Maximino, Isabel, Norma, Luz, David, and Hector, and a treasured father to Rosemary, Miguel, and Carlos. He also left behind his Ten beautiful grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends that loved him dearly. His roots were deep, grounded firmly in the love of his family. His branches reached out in kindness, always willing to provide shade for those in need. Though he is preceded in death by his father Aurelio Torres and his mother Tomasita Nieves Capelles, his legacy will continue to flourish in the hearts of all who knew him.
The service for Jose will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 6:00PM to 8:00 PM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109. We encourage all who knew and loved Jose to leave memories and upload photos to the memorial page, so that his garden may continue to grow in our hearts, just as it did in his own.
