Jose Pabon

With a heart full of love and memories, we announce the passing of Jose Pabon, a man whose life was as diverse and captivating as the city of his birth, Brooklyn, New York. Born on August 30, 1959, Jose lived a life marked by adventure, laughter, and a humble spirit that endeared him to many. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, evident in his early years as an altar boy and throughout his adult years in his unwavering Catholic beliefs. The verse, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God" (Matthew 5:9), aptly describes Jose's gentle spirit and his ability to bring joy and harmony wherever he went.

Jose was a man of many talents, but his expertise as a surgical technician in the hospital setting was only surpassed by his prowess at the pool table. The twinkle in his eye and his infectious laughter were most evident during the countless pool tournaments he won, and his love for the game was only matched by his love for his family. He derived immense joy from spending time with his grandchildren, and his weekly Wednesday pool games became a cherished family tradition. His adventurous spirit, humor, and humility will be remembered by those who survive him: his sons, Anthony (Rebecca) Bernal and Marcus (Tiffany) Chatman; his partner, Nydia Diaz; his sister Carmen (Emil) Calderon; his brother Rene Pabon; his step-children Anthony (Jessica) Vasquez, Ivy Reyes, and Venus Reyes; and his twelve beloved grandchildren.

Jose was preceded in death by his father Jaime Pabon, his mother Margarita Pabon, and his siblings Jaime, Mario, Edgar, and Pauline Pabon. His life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and a good game of pool. His memory will forever be a treasured keepsake in the hearts of those who knew him.

A viewing will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, MA., followed by his burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA.
