Hector Santiago

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Hector Santiago, also lovingly known as Papon, on October 3, 2023. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on February 22, 1973, Hector was a charismatic and funny soul whose contagious laughter would light up any room he entered. A passionate and diligent worker, Hector spent his professional life in the casino industry, taking pride in maintaining the beauty and functionality of his workplace. Yet, his greatest joy was his family, embodying love and thoughtfulness in all his actions. Papon was, in essence, the personification of a loving heart.

Hector was a pillar of strength and support, not just for his family, but for everyone who had the good fortune to know him. His radiant smile, thoughtful gestures, and his unfailing humor made him the life of every gathering. A skilled dancer, Papon had an uncanny ability to turn an ordinary evening into a memorable event. Above all, he was a devoted son, husband, and father. His love for his family was evident in his special bond with his mother, wife, and children. As we remember Hector, we are reminded of the verse from the book of Matthew 5:9, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." Hector was indeed a peacemaker, always lending an ear, a word of advice, or a caring shoulder to anyone in need.

Hector is survived by his loving wife, Milagros Alicea, his children, Hector Luis Jr., Brian, Billy, Brittany, and Dineyshka, his father, Hector Rodriguez, his sister, Vane, and his cousin. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carmen Jesus, and his cherished son, Luis Hector.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 2:00 pm EDT at Puerta Del Cielo Funeral Home, located at 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109.
