Gaspar Velazquez

With deep sorrow and loving memories, we announce the passing of our father, Gaspar Velazquez, who was born on January 5, 1946, in Naguabo, Puerto Rico. Gaspar, a dedicated and humble servant of the Lord, was called to his heavenly home on January 4, 2025. Despite the pain of this loss, we find solace in the scripture, Acts 2:38 which states, "Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'"

Gaspar was a loving and spirited man, who dedicated his life to his faith, family, and service to others. He was an active member of his Pentecostal church community, and his dedication was evident in his daily life. He found joy in simple pleasures like reading the Bible and collecting trinkets. Gaspar lived a life of service as a laborer in a warehouse for many years. He was a pillar of strength and resilience to his family and friends, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. He was a humble man, never seeking recognition or accolades for his endeavors, but his impact on those around him was profound and enduring.

Gaspar is survived by his children, Legacy Rivera, Elizabeth Velazquez, Lissette Lopez, Carmen Velazquez, Maria Velazquez, Luz Negron, Gaspar Jr Velazquez, Isaac Velazquez, Richard Velazquez, and his siblings Angel Luis Velazquez, Angel Manuel Velazquez, Carmen Lamboy, Luz Lamboy, 28 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Isabelo Velazquez and Victoria Ayala, his ex-wife Eneida Rivera and his Grandson Julien Holly.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Gaspar touched are invited to the Puerta Del Cielo Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, to reminisce, grieve, and support each other. Following the viewing, a burial service will be held at 11:30 AM, at the Oak Grove Cemetery of Springfield Inc., 426 Bay Street, Springfield, Massachusetts.
