Gabino Dilone-Nunez

Gabino Dilone-Nunez, born on February 18, 1946, in Santiago, República Dominicana, was a man who truly embodied the words of Mother Teresa: "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Gabino was an exceptional handyman who poured love and dedication into every task he undertook; whether fixing a leaky faucet or building a treehouse for his grandchildren, he performed each job with the utmost care. He was a beacon of light and a pillar of strength for his community in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he resided.

Gabino was a loving husband to his wife, Polivia Castillo, and a devoted father to his daughter, Elizabeth Dilone. His love for his family was palpable and unyielding, always putting them first in all walks of life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herminio Dilone and Ercilia Nunez, and his sons, Gabino Dilone and Carlos Dilone. He also leaves behind a legacy through his grandchildren, Erika Nunez, Erick Núñez, Amy Guzman, and Anyeliz Cordero, who will forever remember their grandfather's unwavering love, infectious laughter, and his knack for making the impossible seem possible.

As we bid farewell to Gabino, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Gabino's love, warmth, and the joy he brought into our lives will forever remain in our hearts. His life was celebrated with a viewing on January 25, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, MA., followed by his burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA.
