Efrain Hernandez Santos

Efrain Hernandez Santos, known lovingly by friends and family as "E" or "Fraito," was an embodiment of joy, laughter, and adventure. Born on February 25, 1966, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Efrain carried his love for life and family from the vibrant streets of his birthplace to the busy avenues of Brooklyn, New York, and finally to the welcoming community of Springfield, Massachusetts. His fun-loving nature, adventurous spirit, and unwavering loyalty were his trademarks, making him a beloved figure in every place he called home.

Efrain was a loving husband, dedicated father, and a loyal friend. He was someone who took great pleasure in the small joys of life, whether it was collecting Dragon Ball Z memorabilia and pocket knives, watching docu-series about life in Alaska, or simply telling his wife, Jannette Hernandez, how much he loved her. His career as a delivery driver for Richco allowed him to explore his adventurous side, meeting new people and seeing new places. As the American humorist, Will Rogers, once said, "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." Efrain lived out this philosophy, making every moment count and always moving forward with a smile.

Efrain leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Iris Santos; his wife, Jannette Hernandez; his daughter, Adiene (Steven) Ortega; his mother-in-law, Eneida Cortes; his siblings, Magaly (Osvaldo) Hernandez and Jorge (Gloria) Hernandez; his brother-in-law, Luis (Jennifer) Ortega; his nieces and nephews, Jaylee Ortega, Genesis Cortes, Kevin, Xavier, Michael Hernandez, and Jorge; his grandchildren, Jaexianey, Jenaiah, and Isabella; and his uncle and aunt, Angel (Lydia) Hernandez. He was preceded in death by his father, Anibal Hernandez; his grandmother, Fina; and his uncles, Paco and Efrain.

A celebration of Efrain's life will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts.
