Edgar Gonzalez

Edgar Antonio Gonzalez, known affectionately by many as Ed or Tonito, began his journey of life in Caguas, Puerto Rico on the 24th of April, 1968. Not only was he known for his charisma that would light up any room, but Edgar was also revered for his humble nature, a loyal friend and a funny character who could effortlessly turn any frown into a smile. His captivating spirit and love for life were infectious, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate to have crossed paths with him.

Edgar was a devoted husband to his wife Ada, and together they built a beautiful life that was the epitome of partnership, love, and mutual respect. They were not just life partners but also business partners, owning and operating a successful transportation business. Edgar's work ethos was truly remarkable and this was evident in his 23 years of dedicated service at Smith and Wesson. When he wasn't working, Edgar loved to engage in activities that made him feel alive. Camping, boating, fishing, and shooting were some of his favorites hobbies, and he would often delight his family with tales of his adventures. Edgar's life was a testament to the words of Maya Angelou who once said, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."

Edgar is survived by his loving wife Ada González, his mother Alba Rodriguez, his brother Jerry González, and Jose Gonzalez, his children Ruth Alvarez, Edgar González, Marcos González, and Nicholas González, and his cherished grandchildren Adaley Gonzalez and Xiomara Alvarez. Edgar was preceded in death by his father Antonio Gonzalez Santa.

A viewing for Edgar will be held on Friday, December 1st, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, located at 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts.
