Carmen Delia Gonzalez

Today, we gather with heavy hearts but also in celebration of the wonderful life of Carmen Delia Gonzalez, who graced this world on April 1, 1948, in Cidra, Puerto Rico, and left us on February 17, 2025, in Springfield, Massachusetts, at the age of 76. To know Carmen was to know warmth, laughter, and a genuine love that seemed to radiate from her every pore.

Carmen was a dedicated and hardworking woman, a true testament to resilience and love. She devoted herself to providing for her beloved family, not only nurturing her own children but extending her arms and home to her grandchildren, loving them fiercely as if they were her own. Her family was the center of her universe, and she proved time and again that there was nothing she wouldn’t do to ensure their happiness and well-being.

In every photograph of Carmen, you’d usually see a smile—a reflection of her contagious joy and kind spirit. She was a bundle of love and compassion, always ready with a soothing word or comforting gesture. Her heart, big enough to encompass friends, family, and strangers alike, touched everyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with her.

Carmen’s life was enriched by the deep bonds she shared with her dear husband, Carmelo Lopez, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Together, they were blessed with a lively family: daughters Veronica Carrasquillo, Adneriez Reyes, and Julia Carrasquillo; sons Pedro Cruz, Victor Cruz, Jose Carrasquillo, and Jonathan Diaz. Her legacy continues through her sisters Maria Berrios, Lydia Gonzalez, Aida Gonzalez, Gladys Gonzalez, Gloria Gonzalez, and Milagros Gonzalez. Though predeceased by her brothers Angel and Luis Gonzalez, the memory of family reunions, filled with laughter and love, will forever be cherished.

Services will take place on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, MA., where we will gather to remember Carmen’s life—a radiant life marked by unconditional love and kindness that never waned, followed by her burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA. Her Christian faith gave her a quiet strength, a gentle beacon of hope and peace that she shared with everyone around her.

As we say our farewells, let us hold on to Carmen’s laughter, her unwavering love, and her words that rang with comfort and hope. She remains immortal in the stories we tell, the traditions we pass on, and in the countless hearts she touched during her time with us. Though she has departed, Carmen Delia Gonzalez’s legacy of love endures, eternally.
