Brigida M. Amaro

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brigida Amaro, who passed away on August 20, 2026.

Brigida was born on October 8, 1934, in Cataño, Puerto Rico, to Virgilio Morales and Ramona Rivera. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, strength, and devotion to her family.

She is survived by her sons, Efrain “Frank” Amaro Jr. and his wife, Joseline Amaro, and Raul Latorre and his partner, Belinda Dowd; her sister, Inez Morales; her brother, Luis Morales, and his wife, Leticia Morales; her brother-in-law, Jorge Fariñas; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Efrain Amaro Sr.; her sons, Luis Latorre and Jaime Amaro; her parents; and her sister, Eleonor Morales.

We would like to thank the entire staff of the 2nd floor dementia unit at 16 Acres Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care and support they provided.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Puerta del Cielo® in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial services will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 1390 Main Street in Agawam, Massachusetts at 2:00 PM.
