Obituary for Julio Colon
1961 - 2017
Springfield- Rev. Julio Colon, 55, departed this life and went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2017 at Bay State Medical Center. Julio was born in Juncos, Puerto Rico on July 26, 1961 to his late parents Eduvijis Colon and Ana Luz Ayala. Julio moved to Philadelphia at the age of 17 then to Massachusetts where he settled for a few years. Julio studied at STCC and at the Bible Instituted of the Hispanic Christian Church where he obtained his diploma on 4 year Theology. He was dedicated to serving the Lord and had a passion for being a Pastor. His first Pastoral Experience was in 1983 at Assembly of God Church in Middletown CT. In 1984 Julio moved back to his Island Puerto Rico where he started pastoring in Vega Alta Puerto Rico. He pastored a few churches in P.R. until 1998 where he moved back to Springfield Massachusetts and became the assistant Pastor of Rev. Juan Carde, he also pastored a few other churches in the Springfield area. Julio dedicated 34 years to God’s Ministry and had great passion for the Church and his family. Julio leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife of 33 years Mildred Colon, a Son; Caleb Colon and Companion Keishla M. Rosa, a Daughter; Glendaliz Colon, a grandson Kenaz C. Colon, 5 Brothers; Hector M. , Efrain , Elias , Jose L. and Jorge L Colon, 3 Sisters; Wally Negron, Rosa A. and Aracelis Colon, and many Family and Friends. Calling hours will be held on Thursday July 20, 2017 from 5pm – 8pm and Friday July 21, 2017 from 9am- 10am at The Spanish Christian Church 565 Chestnut Street Springfield, MA follow by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery 426 Bay Street Springfield. MA.
